Oh, come on, I had to! Who could resist recalling Vidya's greeting from Lage Raho Munnabhai, especially on such a good morning as this?
The news that TIFF had selected Mumbai to be featured in its 2012 City to City programme dropped last night, and I'm so excited this morning that all I can do is dance like Govinda:
'Bam Bam Bambai' is from one of my favorite Govinda/David Dhawan films, Swarg, and it reflects the excitement of people who, like Govinda's character in the film (who wants to become a film star), have big dreams that they hope the city will help them fulfil -- what better way to express this than dancing in the streets!
I've got a stack of Bombay/Mumbai songs in my queue, and I think I'll share them in September -- what do you say, blogosphere, TIFF runs from September 6th to 16th, shall we join in the fun? Not all of us can be in Toronto to share in their celebration of Mumbai, but what say we add to the fun here on our blogs, and spend ten days sharing the Mumbai love?
You have 174 days to decide -- I'll set up something more formal sometime over the summer, but I'm already thrilled about this announcement, and I cannot wait to see what TIFF is going to serve up for us fans of the city and its cinema!
