Okay, time to 'fess up: I don't actually own many Sridevi films, and Khuda Gawah (1992, dir. Mukul S. Anand) is not one I own or have even seen -- though I'd like to, very much so.
But when I put out a query on Twitter asking folks for their fave Sridevi films, and their fave picturisations, Khuda Gawah is one of the films that came up.
At which point two things happened: first, I started poking around the intertubes looking at clips from the various films mentioned, including Khuda Gawah; and second, as part of something I want to do in my day job, I've been playing around with colour tools.
I can already see that it's going to prove very inspirational -- and not quite in the way I'd thought it might. In fact, I've ended up heading off in a direction that will see me cooking up something for later in Sridevipalooza, and the thought of it makes me a little giddy and gleeful.
But in the meantime, I've just been dabbling with some of the tools. And thought, well, in honour of Sridevipalooza, maybe it was time to do the re-looking on the website I'd been thinking about for a while. So if you're here, reading this, you can look at the banner and the link colours, and take in the "Tu Mujhe Qubool" inspired blog palette.
Some thoughts about how I did this:
First, I watched the video:
Then, I took some screencaps from the clip, including the one I eventually used:
And then I started playing. The neat thing? When I finally decided on colours, and realized I'd strayed a little bit from the original colour palette I built from this image? I went back and watched the clip again -- and discovered the colours I'd chosen for the blog were there in the clip. (Trust me, they are.) For me, this is an intriguing exercise in the use of colour, but ultimately, it just makes me love the clip all the more. If that were possible.
Personally, I love how things turned out, and will be happily playing with this idea more in the future. But in the meantime, I love how Sridevipalooza pulled me off into an unexpected direction, and just got me playing a little bit this week. Such fun -- just like the glorious Sridevi herself:
(Just wait 'til you see what I'm cooking up for Mr. India. Hee.)
I've read this post twice and either know EXACTLY what you are up to or have no earthy clue. Can't wait to find out which!

Just hope you won't be disappointed :-)
At the very least, I've been having a lot of fun -- if others are entertained, too, then that's just gravy.
